Your Job Can Be Your Ticket to Freedom
Are you unhappy in your 9 to 5 job? You want to do something else, but you can't afford to leave your job because it pays your bills?
You go to work day in and day out, but your heart is elsewhere. Maybe you are not sure what you want to do, but you know it is not what you are doing. If you feel this way, you are not alone. Most people feel this way.
Only 13 out of every 100 people love their work. So, what if you could look at your job a different way, knowing it is just a stepping stone to something better? You can. Perhaps you know exactly what you would like to do, or perhaps you have no idea. It still works the same way.
Start seeing your job as a paid opportunity to start working on your next venture.
That’s correct – a paid opportunity, your ticket out. You can rest easy knowing that the pressure is off of you financially to make something happen immediately, and you can have as much time as you need. You may spend that time soul searching to determine what it is you love.
Alternatively, if you already know what you want, you can spend that time taking the steps to make it happen. I know, it may not be what you want to hear – it certainly was not what I wanted to hear either, but it is true.
It worked for me, and it works for many others.
But, you say, I have to work 40 hours a week – that leaves no time. There are 168 hours in a week. That leaves you 128. If you sleep for 56 hours per week, you still have 72 hours left.
Now, I know you have responsibilities to take care of too, such as shopping and care for your household, but you still have time left over. It is all in how you use that time. You may have to give up TV a couple of nights or get off of Facebook to work on your dream, but you can do it if it means you get to leave that job of yours to do what you dream about, right?
It is far easier to take steps toward your dream when you have income coming in.
Take a good hard look at the negative aspects of your job, and let that give you the fuel you need to propel yourself forward.
Your job can be the perfect motivator to take the action you need to start making your dream work a possibility. My job was my biggest motivator in moving me forward because I knew I did not want to look back in five years and still be doing the same thing.
When you think you just can’t take another day at your job, start looking at what you appreciate about it.
Certainly there is something. Perhaps it is your co-workers. Focus on those friendships to keep you moving forward. Perhaps it is that you always get holidays off. Keep your thoughts on everything that is good about your work.
There may be times you feel like you are grasping at straws to find the positive, but find it and focus on it. The more positive you can be about your current situation and life, the more energy you will have to put into your dream. If you stay in a negative frame of mind, that negativity will spill over into other areas of your life, leaving little space for you to create your perfect work.
When you start feeling like you just can’t go another day, remember, your job can be your ticket to freedom.
Use your time and your thoughts wisely while you are still in your job, and it will be well worth your effort!
